We are delighted to share that, on July 16th, we had the honour of meeting with Mr. Joël Godin, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Portneuf-Jacques-Cartier and the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Official Languages, at his office in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures. Our President, Eric Walling, Executive Director, Helen Walling, and our dynamic Young Canada Works student, Kettly Rancourt, had the pleasure of discussing our GEMS project, an initiative funded through Canada's New Horizons Program and which Mr. Godin announced this Spring.

 

During this meeting, we also had the opportunity of having an engaging conversation with Mr. Godin about our current summer project:  a consultation of organizations that serve official language minority communities across Canada to identify the challenges they face and find solutions together. Given Mr. Godin's role as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Official Languages and his deep commitment to Canada's official language communities and bilingualism, and his understanding of the challenges they face, we were able to adapt our consultation to better capture the realities and needs of Canada's official language minority communities.
