Creation of a sport and wellness program for First Nations youth
June 2, 2025
To follow-up on our trip to Kawawachikamach of March 24th and 25th, where we delivered sporting goods and clothing to the Nation, Momentum 2.0 is extremely proud of and grateful for the newfound support from the Fondation Jeunes en Tête in helping us continue and push this initiative forward. The Fondation Jeunes en Tête is a Québec City-based foundation whose core mission is to support the prevention of psychological distress amongst youth between the ages of 11 and 18 throughout Québec, and their support would not have been possible without the amazing success of the 13e Bal du maire de Québec 2024 (13th Québec City mayor's bal), part of the proceeds directly funding our project.
With the financial support of the Fondation Jeunes en Tête, Momentum 2.0 will be able to not only deliver invaluable sporting goods and clothing to First Nation communities across Québec, but also support them in developing local sport and wellness programs that seek to keep youth active, mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy, and away from substances and addictions. Our intention with this project is to initiate and foster the development of a mix of structured and unstructured wellness programming to maximize access and use, where the material (e.g. the dozen snowshoes we donated) can be used by schools and community organizations for group activities, while also being available for community members to rent freely. Additionally, we have been able to provide high quality (new) clothing for those who may need it.
We also want to profusely thank the boundless generosity of Les Ventes John Roy, who has been responsible for donating thousands of dollars worth of sporting goods and clothing to Momentum 2.0 over the past months, and without whom none of this would be possible.
Our next trip is planned for the week of June 16th, stay tuned!
